State Game Land 031
Spanning 5,175 acres in central Jefferson County, SGL 031’s varied landscape, including reclaimed mining sites and lush woodlands, offers hunters prime opportunities for bear, deer, turkey, and small game. Reforested spoil areas and food plots attract diverse wildlife, creating ideal conditions for outdoor sports enthusiasts.
State Game Land 195
SGL 195, covering 3,483 acres, features a mix of forests, reclaimed mining land, and the Clover Run drainage system. Healthy turkey and deer populations attract big game hunters, while pheasant stocking provides bird hunters with fall challenges. Four parking areas and extensive roads ensure hunters can easily access remote parts.
Fishing
Kyle Lake
Covering 165 acres, Kyle Lake is a pristine location for bass anglers. Managed under the Big Bass Program regulations, Kyle Lake is also stocked with walleye and channel catfish fingerlings by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). Fish habitat structures have been placed to enhance the aquatic ecosystem, ensuring ample opportunities for fishing enthusiasts. The lake features a handicap-accessible pier and is navigable with electric motor-powered or non-powered boats via a single launch ramp.
Cloe Lake
Near Punxsutawney, Cloe Lake spans 27 acres and is regularly stocked with trout by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). Walleye fingerlings have also been introduced to diversify the fishing experience. The lake is equipped with fish habitat structures to enrich the aquatic environment, and boaters are welcome to use electric motor-powered or non-powered boats. There is a fishing pier with one launch ramp, providing easy access for shore fishing.
Little Toby Creek
Smallmouth bass often migrate from the Clarion River into Little Toby Creek, providing anglers in the area with a fruitful fishing experience.
